Nile River Gunboat

Around January 21, 1889 four steamers that
Gordon had sent from Khartoum arrived at the British relief
column and informed them of the critical situation in the
besieged city. It was decided to send two of them back to
Khartoum to try and save the situation. On the morning of
January 24 they set out with 240 Egyptian and Sudanese soldiers
as well as twenty men of the Royal Sussex Regiment, clad in red
tunics to impress the Mahdists. Running a hail of shot and shell
as they approached the city, they did not arrive until January
28, two days after the city fell.
The original Nile River Gunboat pattern was made
by Britains UK modelmakers and then produced using a combination
of spin cast metal, resin and high density foam parts, all
finished off in highly realistic matte painting style with
weathering and combat scars. This unique process has produced a
model of incredible detail and durability while keeping the
weight reasonable. It readily accommodates the 15 figures and
Krupp gun that come with the set and make it into a boat worthy
of fighting its way to Khartoum…in time?! |

The Nile River Gunboat comes complete with
the following: Boat, Two Royal Navy Crew, Three Egyptian
Infantry, Six Royal Sussex Regiment Infantry, Krupp Gun and Four
Man Egyptian Crew. It is a limited edition of 400 sets.
