Cavalry
of the Napoleonic Wars is a collection made up of 86 figures, each
containing the following elements:
• One mounted figure representing the most famous cavalry of the
Napoleonic Wars.
• An illustrated booklet that accompanies each equestrian model shows
the documentary and iconographical sources that have been used to create
the figures. Each booklet covers a range of topics relating to the
specific model and his corps: uniforms, weapons, equipment, famous
battles etc.
A Valuable
Collection of Die-Cast Mounted Figures
Accurate in all their historical detail, these superbly finished 7cm (2
3/4") die cast models will give pleasure to the most discerning of
collectors. thanks to meticulous research, each figure is clothed in an
authentic uniform and mounted on a handsome horse with finely finished
saddle, saddle-cloth, bridle and equipment.

Conceived by Del Prado with the serious collector in mind, the figurines
have been created by a team of exceptionally talented craftsmen working
under the most rigorous discipline of historical accuracy. From the
initial modelling of the statuette, in which both horse and rider are
sculpted as one beautifully-balanced unit, to the mixing of the colours
for the final hand-painting, no detail has been left to chance. Even the
size and type of horse has been accurately reproduced. Compare the great
black chargers of the Guards cavalry with the lighter mounts of the
light dragoons and hussars.
With Cavalry and Napoleonic Wars you can relive the heroic days of the
French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, as all Europe was sucked into
a power struggle between the old monarchies and the ambitions of
post-revolutionary France.
Share Wellington's strategy as he criss-crosses Portugal and Spain; meet
his Portuguese and Spanish allies, and his courageous cavalry
commanders: Uxbridge, Stapleton Cotton, Le Marchant and others. Join
Bonaparte on his epic marches, and ride alongside the flamboyant Murat
at some of the great cavalry charges of the age: Austerlitz, Jena, Eylau,
Leipzi as Austrians, Prussians, Russians and Germans in turn pit their
finest cavalry against Napoleon's seemingly unstoppable army.
Imagine the heavy cavalry on their chargers, the hand-to-hand fighting
on horseback, the exploits of the hussars and the cossacks. Read with
humility stories of individual acts of heroism beyond the call of duty.
And suffer the tragedy of failure. This was twenty-year pan-European
conflict with a vengeance, in which the cavalry played a key role on all
fronts. Did Wellington's cavalry ever stop 'galloping at everything',
was Blucher a great cavalry commander, did Napoleon ever lose his touch?
With this exceptional collection you will have at your fingertips
everything you need to understand how and why the cavalry was so
crucial.
